A plane, steady thermal problem is formulated in a given, finite, multiply connected domain. The domain consists of a plane figure with \(K\) cutouts, the figure as well as the cutouts being bounded by disjoint Jordan curves. The problem concerns the determination of a temperature field, which has to satisfy the Laplace equation and to assume given values at collocation points distributed in the domain of solution. Two types of the problem are distinguished. The direct problem corresponds to the case when all collocation points lie on curves bounding the domain. Otherwise the problem is referred to as the inverse one. The solution to both problems is sought in the same form represented by two ``standard'' complex functions with unknown constant coefficients. The first function transforms conformally a circular domain onto the given one, and its coefficients are regarded as known. The temperature field is represented in the circular domain by the real part of the second complex function. Its coefficients satisfy a linear system of algebraic equations, which stems from the collocation conditions. Hence, the presented method of solution belongs to the pseudospectral ones.
