Primitive Jordan systems were introduced by Zelmanov in the linear case, and generalized by D'Amor and McCrimmon to the general quadratic case, as a tool to study strongly prime Jordan systems. Linear primitive Jordan triple systems were described by Skosyrski, and a classification of primitive Jordan pairs and triple systems was given by the authors of the paper under review. Unlike Jordan algebras, primitivity of Jordan pairs and triple systems is given at a particular element. In this paper, the authors solve the question posed in [J. Algebra 184, 632-678 (1996; Zbl 0857.17032)] proving that primitivity of a Jordan system at an element implies primitivity of the system at any other nonzero element. The proof is based on a direct construction of primitizers for associative systems which is extended to Jordan systems by using the classification of primitive Jordan systems. This extension makes use of the local characterization of primitivity for Jordan pairs, together with the local-to-global inheritance of primitivity for Jordan algebras. The paper concludes with an open question about the possible equivalence between the notions of maximal-modularity and maximal-weak modularity in Jordan pairs and triple systems. The reviewer knows by private communication that F. Montaner and E. García Rus have answered this question in the affirmative.
