\textit{N. Higson's} treatment [J. Funct. Anal. 129, No. 2, 349-363 (1995; Zbl 0828.46060)] of Kasparov's analytic \(K\)-homology theory [\textit{G. G. Kasparov}, Math. USSR, Izv. 9 (1975), 751-792 (1976; Zbl 0337.58006) and ibid. 16, 513-572 (1981; Zbl 0464.46054)] covers the exactness and excision properties of \(K\)-homology, but stops short of the Kasparov product \(K^i(A)\times K^j(B)\to K^{i+ j}(A\otimes B)\). The purpose of this paper is to show that this product itself can be given a ``dual'' Higson's interpretation in terms of the external product in ordinary \(K\)-theory.
