In a sequence of the papers from 1992 through 1994 in this same journal, \textit{K. B. Howell} [cf. Zbl 0776.42012, Zbl 0776.42013, Zbl 0776.42014, Zbl 0811.42004, Zbl 0819.46028] developed a theory of Fourier transforms. The testing function space \({\mathcal G}\) consists of entire functions with a growth condition of exponential order on horizontal strips. The generalized function space \({\mathcal G}'\) is the dual of \({\mathcal G}\). In the present work, the Weierstrass transform \[ {1\over (4\pi)^{1/2}} \int_{\mathbb{R}} f(t) e^{-(z- t)^2/4}dt \] is defined on \({\mathcal G}'\), the range space is obtained, and an inversion formula is developed. Characterizations of the Weierstrass transform on both \({\mathcal G}\) and \({\mathcal G}'\) are obtained. Further, it is shown that \({\mathcal G}\) is dense in \({\mathcal L}(\alpha,\beta)\) for \(\alpha>0\) and \(\beta<0\) and that \({\mathcal L}'(\alpha,\beta)\) is a subspace of \({\mathcal G}'\).
