A quantum Witt construction (Q1271015)

A procedure due to Witt allows to construct a new Lie algebra starting from a semisimple Lie algebra \(\mathfrak h\) and an \(\mathfrak h\)-module \(M\) provided with a symmetric \(\mathfrak h\)-invariant nondegenerate bilinear form. In this interesting paper, the author establishes an analogous construction for Hopf algebras. Several applications to quantum (super)groups are investigated; for instance, alternative descriptions of \(U_q(\mathfrak g)\) are given, where \(\mathfrak g\) is a simple Lie algebra of either classical or \(E_8\) type.
