Set \(\Delta=\partial^2/ \partial_z \partial_{\overline z}\) and let \(\varphi\) be a subharmonic function satisfying \(0<m\leq\Delta \varphi(z)\leq M\) for all \(z\in\mathbb{C}\), where \(m\) and \(M\) are positive constants. \(\| f \|^p_{\varphi,p} =\int_\mathbb{C} | f|^pe^{-p \theta} d\sigma\) for \(p< \infty\) where \(d\sigma\) is a Lebesgue area measure on \(\mathbb{C}\), and \(\| f \|_{\varphi, \infty}=\sup_z | f(z)| e^{-\varphi (z)}\). \({\mathcal F}^p_{\varphi,p}\) denotes a set of all analytic functions \(f\) with \(\| f \|_{\varphi,p} <\infty\). For \(\Gamma= \{\gamma_n\}\) a sequence of distinct points from \(\mathbb{C}\), \(\| f\mid\Gamma \|^p_{\varphi,p} =\sum_n| f (\gamma_n) |^p e^{-p\varphi (\gamma_n)}\) for \(p<\infty\), and \(\| f\mid \Gamma\|_{\varphi, \infty}= \sup_n| f(\gamma_n) | e^{-\varphi (\gamma_n)}\), where we permit \(f\) to be a function defined on some set containing \(\Gamma\). We say that the sequence \(\Gamma\) is sampling for \({\mathcal F}^p_\varphi\) if w have \(\| f\mid\Gamma \|_{\varphi,p} \sim\| f \|_{ \varphi,p}\) for \(f\in {\mathcal F}^p_\varphi\). For a fixed \(\Gamma\), we denote by \(n(z,r)\) the number of points of the sequence \(\Gamma\) in \(D(z,r)\), which is the disc of center \(z\) and radius \(r\). Set \(D^-_\varphi (\Gamma)= \liminf_{r\to \infty} \inf_{z\in\mathbb{C}} n(z,r)/ \int_{D(z,r)} \Delta\varphi\) and \(D^+_\varphi (\Gamma)= \limsup_{r\to \infty} \sup_{z\in\mathbb{C}} n(z,r)/ \int_{D (z,r)} \Delta \varphi\). The authors show the following: (1) If a sequence \(\Gamma\) is sampling for \({\mathcal F}^p_\varphi\) then it contains a uniformly separated subseqence \(\Gamma'\) satisfying \(D^-_\varphi (\Gamma')>2/ \pi\). (2) If a sequence \(\Gamma\) is interpolating for \({\mathcal F}^p_\varphi\) then it is uniformly separated and satisfies \(D^+_\varphi (\Gamma)<2/ \pi\). In (1) and (2), it is known that the converses are also true. They have counterparts in the unit disc for weighted Bergman spaces of the type treated in [\textit{B. Berndtsson} and \textit{J. Ortega-Cerdà}, J. Reine Angew. Math. 464, 109-128 (1995; Zbl 0823.30023)].
