The problem of complemented unconditional basic sequences in a Banach lattice (Banach sequence space) \(Y\) obtains a solution both in the nonatomic and in the discrete case. In the first case, if \((f_n)\) is a complemented unconditional basic sequence in \(Y\) such that \((f_n)\) is anti-Euclidean, then \((f_n)\) is equivalent to a complemented disjoint sequence \((f_n')\) in \(Y\). In case when \(Y\) is a Banach sequence space and \((f_n)\) is a complemented unconditional basic sequence in \(Y\), \((f_n)\) lattice anti-Euclidean, then \((f_n)\) is equivalent to a complemented disjoint sequence \((f_n')\) in \(Y^N\) for some natural \(N\). These results are applied to the problem of uniqueness of unconditional bases in finite-dimensional spaces. Special cases considered by the authors are Nakano space, Tsirelson space and certain complemented subspaces of Orlicz sequence spaces.
