    The paper is concerned with the stability properties of weak solutions to the semilinear Kirchhoff equation with nonlinear boundary dissipation \[ w_{tt}- \gamma\Delta w_{tt}+ \Delta^2 w+ f(w)= 0\quad\text{in }(0,\infty)\times \Omega, \] \[ w(0,.)= w_0,\quad w_t(0,.)= w_1\quad\text{in }\Omega,\tag{K} \] \[ w= 0,\quad\Delta w= -g\Biggl({\partial w_t\over\partial\nu}\Biggr)\quad\text{in }(0,\infty)\times \partial\Omega, \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded open subset in \(\mathbb{R}^2\) with smooth boundary \(\partial\Omega\), \(f\), \(g\) are given scalar functions, and \(0<\gamma\leq 1\). The authors also show that the solutions of (K) converge, as \(\gamma\to 0\), to solutions of the Euler-Bernoulli plate equation, which is obtained by letting \(\gamma= 0\) in (K).
