Let \(G= SL(n,\mathbb{R})\), \(H= GL(n-1,\mathbb{R})\) and \(G/H\) be the para-Hermitian symmetric space of rank one. Let \(S\) be the unit sphere in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) and \(\Gamma\subset S\times S\) be defined by \(\langle u,v\rangle= \sum^n_{i=1} u_iv_i= 0\). The authors firstly study the maximal degenerate series representations \(\pi^+_{\mu,\nu}\), \(\mu\in \mathbb{C}\), \(\nu= 0,1\), of \(SL(n,\mathbb{R})\) and investigate the irreducibility, equivalence and unitarity of these representations. Secondly, they study the decomposition of the tensor products \(\pi_{\mu,\nu}^+\otimes \pi^-_{\mu,\nu}\), \(\mu\in \mathbb{R}\), \(\nu= 0,1\), into irreducible representations. These tensor products carry an indefinite, Hermitian form and act on the Schwartz space \(D_\nu(S\times S)\), hence they give some ``completion'' to contain an orthogonal decomposition with respect to the Hermitian form. If \(\mu\in (-(n+ 1)/2+ k,(-n+1)/2+ k)\), \(k\in\mathbb{N}\), the completion includes \(k\) irreducible subspaces in addition to the case \(k= 0\). These spaces consist of distributions concentrated at the boundary \(\Gamma\) of \(G/H\), and the additional representations are the direct sum of irreducible representations. All these explicit results are so far only known for the para-Hermitian symmetric space of rank one.
