A three-dimensional finite element procedure for the vibration and dynamic stress analysis of the track link chains of off-road vehicles is presented and utilized to predict the natural frequencies and mode shapes. The numerical results show that the static stress analysis does not lead to an accurate prediction of the stress of complex tracked vehicles, and the reaction and contact forces have a significant effect on the track link dynamic stress. On the other hand, the inertia, Coriolis and centrifugal forces are of less significance.
