Explicit irreducible representations of \(H(F_4)\), the generic Hecke algebra of type \(F_4\) with parameters \(u,v\), are constructed by using information on the character table of the Weyl group. \textit{M. Geck} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 68, No, 1, 51-76 (1994; Zbl 0820.20011)] constructed irreducible representations of \(H(F_4)\) up to degree 8 and used this information to obtain the character table of \(H(F_4)\). \textit{C. Pallikaros} [Glasg. Math. J. 39, No. 1, 43-50 (1997; Zbl 0895.20008), J. Algebra 187, No. 2, 493-509 (1997; Zbl 0874.20008)] constructed irreducible representations of \(H(F_4)\) up to degree 9, in which no denominators appear in the representing matrices, and used these to obtain some decomposition numbers of \(H(F_4)\). \textit{T. P. McDonough} and \textit{C. Pallikaros} [J. Algebra 218, No. 2, 654-671 (1999)] gave a complete set of irreducible representations of \(H(F_4)\) in which no denominators appear in the representing matrices and used these to obtain the irreducible modules of the specializations of \(H(F_4)\) into fields of characteristic different from 2 or 3. Moreover, they gave the decompositions of the generic irreducible modules under such specializations. In a further paper [J. Algebra (to appear)], \textit{T. P. McDonough} and \textit{C. Pallikaros} deal with characteristic 2 and 3 and obtain the corresponding results in these cases.
