The author continues his study of partitioned Rosenbrock method for the numerical integration of multibody systems [cf. \textit{J. Wensch}, Zur numerischen Behandlung differential-algebraischer Systeme von höherem Index -- Partitionierte ROW-Methoden für Mehrkörpersysteme und Stabilität von Diskretisierungsverfahren für Index-2-Systeme, Ph.D. thesis, Universität Halle-Wittenberg (1996) and \textit{J. Wensch, K. Strehmel} and \textit{R. Weiner}, Appl. Numer. Math. 22, No.~1-3, 381-398 (1996; Zbl 0868.65046)]. In this article the emphasis is on the direct integration of the equations of motion in index-3 formulation, i.e. without any index reduction. The author improves a previous convergence theorem for this class of methods. Based on it and some simplifying assumptions he derives a new method of order 4 with 8 stages whereas previously he had to use 11 stages. The new method is compared with some standard codes like HEM5 or RADAU5 for the example of Andrews squeezing mechanism.
