In former papers the author established embedding results of the following type. Denote by \(H^\omega\) the space of all continuous functions on the interval \([0,2\pi]\) with modulus of continuity of order \(O(\omega(\delta))\), where \(\omega\) is a given modulus of continuity. Denote further by \(S_p(\lambda)\) the space of all continuous functions on the interval \([0,2\pi]\) with the property that the norm of \(\sum \lambda_n| s_n-f| ^p\) is finite, where \(\lambda_n\) is a monotonic sequence of positive numbers, and \(p\) is a positive number. Finally, denote by \(V_p(\lambda)\) the space of all continuous functions on the interval \([0,2\pi]\) with the property that the norm of \(\sum \lambda_n| \tau_n-f| ^p\) is finite, where \(\lambda_n\) is a monotonic sequence of positive numbers, and \(p\) is a positive number. Here \(\tau_n\) is the de la Vallée Poussin mean of the Fourier series of \(f\). It was proved that under various conditions on \(\omega\), \(\lambda_n\) and \(p\) we have inclusions of the type \(S_p(\lambda)\subset H^\omega\), \(S_p(\lambda)\subset V_p(\lambda)\), and \(V_p(\lambda)\subset H^\omega\). In the present work the author raises and answers some converse embedding problems including the space \(H^\omega\) or its subspaces. For Part I and Part III see the preceding and the following review, respectively.
