    The following theorem is proved. Let \(X\) be a topological space, \(Y\) an interval space in the sense of \textit{L. L. Stachó} [Acta Sci. Math. 42, 157-164 (1980; Zbl 0436.49017)], \(Z\) a complete or dense linear space, and \(f\leq g: X\times Y\to Z\). Assume (1) \(\bigcap_{i=1}^n \{ x: g(x,y_i) > z\}\) is connected or empty for \(y_1,\ldots,y_n\in Y\), \(z\in Z\), (2) \(f(\cdot,y)\), \(g(\cdot,y)\) are upper semicontinuous and \(f(x,\cdot)|_I\) is lower semicontinuous for \(x\in X\), \(y\in Y\), \(I\) interval\({}\subset Y\), (3) \(g(x,y) \leq f(x,y_1) \vee g(x,y_2)\) for \(x\in X\), \(y\in [y_1,y_2]\), \(y_1,y_2\in Y\), (4) \(\{ x:\;g(x,\overline{y}) \geq \overline{z} \}\) is compact for some \(\overline{y}\in Y\), \(\overline{z}\in Z\). Then \(\inf_Y\sup_X f(x,y) \leq\sup_X\inf_Y g(x,y)\).
