Computation of formal fundamental solutions (Q1300890)

The main aim of the paper is to report a new and simplified proof of the existence of formal fundamental solutions to systems of meromorphic linear differential equations. The proof is totally constructive and differs from the classical proofs in the treatment of specific situations. The result obtained by the author is certainly of theoretical interest but, even if the procedure for the computation of the formal fundamental solutions is easily described and finite, it is questionable if its implementation on a computer will result into an algorithm more effective than the classical ones. A corresponding proof of the existence for highest level formal solutions is considered at the end of the paper.
