Let \(P\) be a generalized trigonometric polynomial with spectrum \(\sigma(P)\), \(1\leq p\leq 2\), \(p\leq q\leq\infty\). There is proved a Nikol'skij-type inequality \[ \|P\|_q\leq [\text{card }\sigma(P)]^r\|P\|_p, \] where \(r={1\over p}-{1\over q}\). Let \(P\) and \(Q\) be two such polynomials with spectra \(\sigma(P)\), \(\sigma(Q)\subset\Lambda\), where \(\Lambda\) is a finite subset of \(\mathbb{R}\), and let \(0<q\leq \infty\), \(s= [\min(1,q)]^{-1}- 1\). There exists a number \(c>0\), independent of \(P\) and \(Q\), such that \[ \|P*Q\|_q\leq c[\text{card}(\Lambda- \Lambda)]^s\|P\|_q \|Q\|_q. \] Also, there are investigated distribution functions in the Besicovitch space \(B^1_{ap}(\mathbb{R})\). If \(M\) is the maximal function operator of Hardy and Littlewood and \(1<q<\infty\), there exists a constant \(A_q>0\) such that if \(f\in B^q_{ap}(\mathbb{R})\), then \(Mf\in B^q_{ap}(\mathbb{R})\) and \(\|Mf\|_q\leq A_q\|f\|_q\); this is extended also to the case \(q=1\), proving that if \(f\log^+|f|\in B^1_{ap}(\mathbb{R})\), then \(Mf\in B^1_{ap}(\mathbb{R})\).
