      The author studies the following functional equation \[ \forall a \in (0,1) \exists \gamma(a) \in (0,1/2): \quad f\Big(\frac{x+ax}{2}\Big)=\gamma(a)[f(x)f(ax)], \tag \(*\) \] where \(f:(0,-\infty) \to \mathbb R\). The main result is the following Theorem: If \(f\) is a continuous solution of equation (*) with a strictly increasing function \(\gamma\), then \(f(x)=cx^d\), \(x \in (0,+\infty)\), for some \(c \in \mathbb R\) and \(d \in (-\infty,0)\cup (1,+\infty)\).
