Let \(M^{2m}\) be a compact manifold with Kähler form \(\Omega\) in a fixed Kähler class \([\Omega]\in H^2(M,\mathbb{R})\) and \(s\) a scalar curvature of \(\Omega\). Extremal metrics on \(M\) are critical points of the functional \(S(\Omega)=\int_Ms^2\Omega^m\), as introduced by \textit{E. Calabi} [Ann. Math. Stud. 102, Princeton University Press, 259-290 (1982; Zbl 0487.53057)]. In the present paper, new extremal Kähler metrics on certain \(\mathbb{C} P^1\)-bundles over products of Kähler-Einstein manifolds of negative scalar curvature are constructed. In the proof, an ansatz is obtained by studying a Kähler manifold which admits a real torus action through holomorphic isometries. In that case, a system of differential equations for the scalar curvature is obtained with respect to the Kähler quotient coordinates and the Hamiltonian functions. Such a Hamiltonian method was used earlier by \textit{C. LeBrun} [J. Differ. Geom. 34, No. 1, 223-253 (1991; Zbl 0711.53055)] and \textit{H. Pedersen} and \textit{Y. S. Poon} [Commun. Math. Phys. 136, No. 2, 309-326 (1991; Zbl 0792.53065)]. These metrics generalize recent examples by Tønnesen-Friedman on ruled surfaces. In the last section, it is shown that in dimension four one of the Tønnesen-Friedman extremal Kähler metrics is locally conformally Einstein.
