Following the approach of Baker and Forrester in which they develop the symmetric Jack polynomials from nonsymmetric theory, the author develops symmetric and \(t\)-antisymmetric Macdonald polynomials from the more recent nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials described by \textit{J. Cherednik} [Int. Mat. Res. Not. 1995, No. 10, 483--515 (1995; Zbl 0886.05121)]. This enables the author to prove several new results, including an evaluation of a generalized \(q\)-Selberg integral in which the nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomial appears as a factor in the integrand.
