      In this carefully written paper, the author considers the action on the Heisenberg group \(\mathbb{H}\) of the commutator of a Hörmander multiplier operator and a BMO function. He shows that this commutator is continuous on \(L^ p(\mathbb{H})\), for \(1<p \leq 2\). His proof goes as follows. Let \(T^ N_ m\) be a smooth truncation of the operator defined by the multiplier \(m\) and let \(T^{N,*}_ m\) be the maximal operator defined as \[ T^{N,*}_ m(f) (u)=\sup_{0<\varepsilon<\infty} T^{N,\varepsilon}_ m (f)(u)=\sup_{0 < \varepsilon<\infty} \int_{| v^{-1}u |>\varepsilon} f(v)K^ N (v^{-1}u)dv, \] where \(K^ N\) denotes the kernel of the operator \(T^ N_ m\). The author proves that there exists \(C>0\) such that \(| T^{N,\varepsilon}_ m(f)(u) | \leq C\{M_ s(f) (u)+M(T^ N_ m(f))(u)\}\) for some \(1<s < p \leq 2\) and for any \(\varepsilon>0\), where \(M\) denotes the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator and \(M_ s(f)=(M(| f |^ s))^{1/s}\). Next, he proves that the operator \(T^{N,*}_ m\) is bounded on \(L^ p(\mathbb{H})\), \(1<p \leq 2\), uniformly on \(N\).
