A \(q\)-deformed generalization is suggested to the Mackey quantization scheme. The author exploits the notion of braided groups that he has introduced earlier. As a tool, the *-algebra structure on braided groups is defined. The basic point is the reinterpretation of the quantum double \(D(H)\) as a cross product \(\underline A\rtimes H\), with \(H\) being a quasi-triangular Hopf *-algebra, \(A\) being the dual of \(H\), and \(\underline{A}\) being the braided group related to \(A\). The example of \(H= U_ q (\text{su}_ 2)\) is elaborated as an illustration. The author emphasizes the fact that by this way a quantum system is obtained whose algebra of observables is a Hopf algebra. The dual of \(D(H)\) is considered parallelly.
