The author studies complete homogeneous spaces of a semisimple algebraic group \(G\) defined over an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic. The aim is to understand to what extent one can generalize the vanishing theorem of \textit{G. Kempf} [see Proc. intern. Congr. Math., Helsinki 1978, Vol. 2, 575-577 (1980; Zbl 0431.20036)] to complete homogeneous spaces with non-reduced stabilizers. To do this, the author uses the notion of Frobenius split varieties introduced by \textit{V. B. Mehta} and \textit{A. Ramanathan} [Ann. Math., II. Ser. 122, 27-40 (1985; Zbl 0601.14043)] for which the vanishing theorem holds. In this paper it is shown (under mild conditions on \(G)\) that the only Frobenius split complete homogeneous spaces are the generalized flag varieties.
