A new characterization of Dirichlet type spaces and applications (Q1320941)

The authors formulate a new characterization for Dirichlet type spaces and give two applications. First is a criterion for the boundedness of the small Hankel operators on Dirichlet type spaces in terms of the behavior of the symbol. The other application is a decomposition theorem for symbols which make the small Hankel operators bounded. Our results include earlier results about the boundedness of the small Hankel operators on the Hardy and the Bergman spaces and the corresponding decomposition theorems for the Bloch and BMO spaces.
