This paper continues previous attempts to find a convenient mathematical setting in which Cauchy problems have a global unique solution, obtained in [the authors and \textit{M. Oberguggenberger}, Generalized solutions to partial differential equations of evolution type, Preprint] for linear symmetric hyperbolic systems (and also parabolic ones), and for smooth solutions of quasilinear symmetric hyperbolic systems, and in [the second author and \textit{M. Moussaoui}, Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 24, No. 6, 789-794 (1995)] for nonlinear parabolic equations. Here we continue this program by obtaining coherence results in the (linear and nonlinear) Cauchy-Kovalevskaya case and in the case of a single conservation law. We are interested in the general Cauchy problem for \(p\) scalar equations \((1 \leq i \leq p)\) \[ {\partial u_i \over \partial t} (x,t) = f_i \biggl( x,t, \bigl\{ D_\alpha u_j (x,t) \bigr\}_{1 \leq j \leq p,0 \leq |\alpha |\leq q} \biggr), \quad u_i (x,0) = u^0_i (x) \] where, \(f_i : \mathbb{R}^n \times \mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{R}^{r_i} \to \mathbb{R}\) (for some \(r_i \in \mathbb{N})\). Functions \(u^0_i : \mathbb{R}^n \to \mathbb{R}\) are given; the \(D_\alpha\) are partial \(x\) derivatives of order \(|\alpha |\), \(\alpha \in \mathbb{N}^n\).
