Our topic is sparse elimination theory in the sense of \textit{J. Canny}, \textit{I. M. Gel'fand}, \textit{M. M. Kapranov}, \textit{B. Sturmfels} and \textit{A. V. Zelevinsky}. We generalize Poisson's classical product formula [cf. \textit{J. P. Jouanolou}, Adv. Math. 90, No. 2, 117-263 (1991; Zbl 0747.13007); proposition 2.7] to the \({\mathcal A}\)-resultant and to the sparse mixed resultant. Our proof is based on the interpretation of the \({\mathcal A}\)-resultant as the Chow form of a toric variety. Our most general result is a product formula for Chow forms of projective varieties (theorem 5.1).
