A method for designing IIR (infinite impulse response) filters for the case of multiband ones of low sensitivity is presented. The approach used is based on minimizing a quadratic measure of the error on the phase design of certain filters. The real advantage of the proposed method lies in the fact that no iteration is needed. The method is used to obtain real as well as complex parameter (asymmetric modulus of the transfer function) filters. Five numerical examples illustrating the performances of the proposed method are presented. It is to be pointed out that the results obtained by this method are comparable with those obtained by others methods but the advantage of the presented method lies in a greater flexibility.
