Similarity and block similarity (Q1344078)

This paper studies the algebraic properties of a pair of matrices. More specifically, it studies the similarity of matrix pairs. Some equivalent characterizations of the block similarity of matrix pairs are given. A survey of some generalizations of properties of the invariants of similarity to the invariants of block similarity is also presented. The paper may provide some interesting applications to controllability and state feedback problems in control theory.
