The present paper studies on \(\mathbb{C} P^ 2 \# \overline{\mathbb{C} P^ 2} = X\) certain Einstein metrics. Especially, the metric \(g\) under consideration is the one constructed by \textit{L. Bérard-Bergery} [Inst. Élie Cartan, Univ. Nancy I 6, 1-60 (1983; Zbl 0544.53038)]. This metric \(g\) is Einstein, and if \(X\) is equipped with the standard complex structure \((\cong \mathbb{C} P^ 2\) with a point blown up), then \(g\) is Hermitian as well. By replacing the ordinary Einstein condition \(\rho = \lambda g\) by (weakly) *-Einstein condition: \(\rho^* = \lambda^* g\) for a scalar (function) \(\lambda^*\) on \(X\), where \(\rho\) and \(\rho^*\) are Ricci and *-Ricci curvature tensors of \(g\) respectively, the author shows that the previous metric \(g\) is only weakly *-Einstein, and the nonconstant function \(\lambda^*\) is positive. The paper first describes basic properties of \(X\), and then reviews Bérard-Bergery's metric \(g\) and the \(*\)-Einstein condition. The proof follows by calculation using the explicit description of \(g\) above.
