    The author studies integrodifferential equations occuring in viscoelasticity and in heat conduction for materials with memory. The equation \(x'(t) = A(t) [x(t) + \int^ t_{0 (\text{or} - \infty)} F(t,s) x(s) ds]\), \(t \geq t_ 0 \geq 0\), is considered in a real Hilbert space, where \(A (\cdot)\) are unbounded linear operators and the Lyapunov function \(v (\cdot)\) satisfies the inequality \(v'(t) \leq - \alpha v(t) + \sqrt {v(t)} \int^ t_{0 (\text{or} - \infty)} \omega (t,s) \sqrt {v(s)} ds\), \(t \geq t_ 0 \geq 0\). He extends previous results and obtains uniform stability and asymptotic stability, as well as uniform boundedness and ultimate boundedness.
