Within a scalar-tensor theory of gravity, where the Higgs field of elementary particle physics plays the role of the scalar field, the excited Higgs field satisfies a homogeneous differential equation, so that the Higgs particles interact only gravitationally and cannot be generated in the laboratory. It is shown in the totally static, spherically symmetric case, that for this differential equation only the trivial solution exists, so that the gravitational field is determined by the Einstein equation.
