The author proved the following theorem: A sequence of \(Z_n\geq 0\) is the sequence of error of approximation in \(L_2\) by the Zygmund means if and only if \[ {(n+1)^{2\alpha} Z^2_n- n^{2\alpha} z^2_{n-1}\over (n+1)^{2\alpha}- n^{2\alpha}}\downarrow 0. \]
