Let \(x=(x_1, \dots, x_n) \in\mathbb{R}^n\), \(m= (m_1, \dots, m_n) \in\mathbb{Z}^n\), \((mx) =\sum^n_{k=1} m_kx_k\), \(\mathbb{T}^n =\mathbb{R}^n/ \mathbb{Z}^n\), \(|x|= \sqrt {x^2_1+ \cdots+ x^2_n}\), \(S(K)= \{m\in \mathbb{Z}^n: |m|<K\}\), \(e(t)= \exp(2\pi it)\). The sum \(D_K(x) = \sum_{m\in S(K)} e((mx))\) is called the Dirichlet kernel of spherical means. It is conjectured in the paper of \textit{M. I. D'yachenko} [Russ. Math. Surv. 47, 103-171 (1992); translation from Usp. Mat. Nauk 47, 97-162 (1992; Zbl 0784.42009)] that \(\varlimsup_{K\to \infty} |D_K (x) |/K^{n-1 \over 2} <+ \infty\) for almost all \(x\in \mathbb{T}^n\). This does not hold for \(n=2\). The author shows that for almost all \(x\in\mathbb{T}^2\) we have \[ \varlimsup_{K\to \infty} D_K(x)/K^{1 \over 2} =+ \infty \] and for every \(x\in \mathbb{T}^2\) we get \[ \varliminf_{K\to \infty} D_K(x)/K^{1 \over 2} (\ln K)^{1 \over 4} <c<0. \]
