The author proposes a model for mass transfer phenomena in steady annular liquid jets appearing in chemical reactions by combustion of toxic products, and by scrubbing of radioactive or nonradioactive materials. The aim is to determine the dynamic surface tension of liquids and the diffusivities of soluble gases. Because mathematical aspects of the problem were presented by the author in an another paper [Comput. Mech. 11, No. 1, 28-64 (1993; Zbl 0774.76065)], in the present one he focuses on the applications. By means of many figures, the author shows the variations of the flow field depending on the amplitude of oscillations of the flow rate at the nozzle exit, and on the Strouhal number.
