This paper continues a series of the author's works on differential-topological type of quotients of complex algebraic surfaces by the complex conjugation [\textit{S. M. Finashin}, J. Reine Angew. Math. 481, 55-71 (1996; Zbl 0860.14044) and in: Studies on topology, 8. Work collection, Zap. Nauchn. Semin. POMI 231, 215-221 (1996; Zbl 0891.57033)]. The main result of the present article is that if \(X\) is a rational or Enriques surface, defined over the reals, \(c:X\to X\) is the complex conjugation, \(Y=X/c\) is simply connected, then \(Y\) is diffeomorphic to the connected sum of \(m\) copies of \(\overline{{\mathbb C}\mathbb P^2}\), where \(m=\frac{1}{2}(b^-_2(X)+ \chi(X_{\mathbb R})-1)\) for rational \(X\), and \(m=\frac{1}{2}\chi(X_{\mathbb R})+4\) for \(X\) being Enriques. The proof is based on the classical Kuiper-Massey theorem that \({\mathbb C}\mathbb P^2/c=S^4\) and on the classification of minimal models of real rational surfaces. The other cases are reduced to these ones.
