Using Stroh's formalism and Cauchy's integral method of complex variable theory, the authors analyze the problem of an infinite anisotropic piezoelectric medium with an elliptic hole or a crack under a line force, a line charge and a line dislocation. Electromechanical field solutions are found in closed form. Emphasis is naturally placed on the behavior of stress and electric induction field near the crack tip. Stress and electric induction intensity factors are obtained explicitly. This work provides some fundamental solutions that may prove useful in further works, including numerical ones (e.g., in the applications of the boundary element method).
