Using the complex potential method, the authors study fundamental solutions for two-dimensional transversely isotropic piezoelectric media with elliptic holes or cracks. Green's functions and fundamental solutions for field intensity factors are obtained for an infinite piezoelectric plane with an elliptic hole subjected to concentrated static loads. The solutions of both inside and outside the hole are reported. Likewise, the authors present solutions for various types of concentrated loads applied to a crack, without numerical results.
