The article continues a series of the authors' papers on the theory of generalized solutions to equations of motion of a viscous heat conducting gas [see \textit{A. A. Amosov} and \textit{A. A. Zlotnik}, Semidiscrete method of solving equations of one-dimensional motion of a viscous heat conducting gas with nonsmooth data, Izv. Vyssh. Uchebn. Zaved., Mat. 1997, No. 4, 3-19 (1997)]. Theorems on existence and uniqueness of generalized solutions to initial-boundary value problems for these equations are formulated under the assumption that the coefficients of the parabolic system under consideration and the initial-boundary data are nonsmooth. The uniqueness theorem is proven, estimations for the difference between two (unique) generalized solutions are derived and thereby strong dependence on the data is also proven. To prove these statements the authors use the method that was suggested in their earlier papers [see \textit{A. A. Amosov} and \textit{A. A. Zlotnik}, Math. Notes 55, No. 6, 555-567 (1994; Zbl 0832.35102), Sov. Math., Dokl. 38, No. 1, 1-5 (1989; Zbl 0850.76595)] in the case of one-dimensional motion of a viscous barotropic gas. In the present article, they develop this method and complete it with some nonstandard results on generalized solutions to linear parabolic problems with nonsmooth data which are of independent interest.
