The general definition of the uniform limit with respect to a base of sets makes it possible to avoid repeating similar arguments in various concrete cases and to clarify the conceptual aspect of the problem. We proved theorems about permutations of limits in the general case of convergence with respect to various bases and about their connection with the notion of the multiple limit with respect to a collection of bases [Russ. Acad. Sci., Dokl., Math. 50, No. 3, 438-440 (1995); translation from Dokl. Akad. Nauk, Ross. Akad. Nauk 339, No. 4, 437-438 (1994; Zbl 0865.54003)]. There are two types of definitions of uniform convergence that play an important role in the usage of its properties: the first of them is Cauchy's definition; the definition of the pointwise uniform convergence in Heine's sense is a definition of the second type. We suggested a method [Russ. Acad. Sci., Dokl., Math. 47, No. 3, 585-588 (1993); translation from Dokl. Akad. Nauk, Ross. Akad. Nauk, 330, No. 6, 677-679 (1993; Zbl 0865.54002); Anal. Math. 20, No. 3, 161-171 (1994; Zbl 0816.26001)] that makes it possible to generalize the notion of the limit of functions in Heine's sense to the general case of convergence with respect to a base of sets. In this work we develop this approach. Here we introduce the notion of the pointwise uniform converence of functions with respect to a base of sets and prove that it is equivalent to the notion of the uniform convergence in Cauchy's sense.
