    Let \(C\) be a subset of a Hilbert space \(H\) and let \(T:C \to C\) be a mapping. In the case that \(C\) is closed and convex and \(T\) is nonexpansive on \(C\) a nonlinear weak ergodic theorem was proved by \textit{J.-B. Baillon} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. A 280, 1511-1514 (1975; Zbl 0307.47006)]. A nonlinear strong ergodic theorem was shown to hold by \textit{H. Brezis} and \textit{F. E. Browder} [Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 82, 959-961 (1976; Zbl 0339.47029)] under the condition \(0\in C\) and \[ \| Tu + Tv \| ^2 \leq \| u + v \| ^2 + c \left[ \| u\| ^2 - \| Tu\| ^2 + \| v\| ^2 - \| Tv\| ^2 \right] \quad \text{ for} u,v\in C. \] These conditions have later been weakened, under others, in a paper by \textit{R. Wittman} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 108, No. 3, 781-788 (1990; Zbl 0705.47053)]. The present author provides further still weaker conditions for the sequence \(\{ T^n x \}\) to be almost-convergent (weakly or strongly) to the asymptotic center of \(C\).
