The author offers the general \(C^{2}\) solutions \(f,g\) of the functional equation \(x+g(y+f(x))=y+g(x+f(y))\) obtained by \textit{M. E. Kuczma} [Aequationes Math. 45, No. 2-3, 300-321 (1993; Zbl 0787.39007)] in connection with compatibility of means (he determined its analytic solutions).
