The main result of this interesting paper is contained in the following theorem: (1) For any \(S^1\)-bundle \(\pi: W\to M\) and a generic function \(f:W\to \mathbb{R}\), there is a natural homomorphism of spectral sequences \(\kappa^*_\pi: E_*^{*,*} (QCC)\to E_*^{*,*} (M,f)\) which is characteristic in the following sense: if \(\varphi: L\to M\) is a generic mapping, then the homomorphism \(\kappa^*_{\varphi^* \pi}\) coincides with that given by \(\varphi^* \circ \kappa^*_\pi: E_*^{*,*} (QCC) \to E_*^{*,*} (\varphi^* \pi, \varphi^*f)\). (2) There is a natural isomorphism \(QHC^* \cong H^* (\mathbb{B} S^1)\), such that the limit homomorphism of cohomology groups \(\kappa^*_\pi: QHC^* \to H^*(M)\) maps the universal characteristic class into corresponding characteristic class of the given bundle. (3) Under the above isomorphism, the periodicity homomorphism \(S^*: QHC^n= H^n (\mathbb{B} S^1) \to QHC^{n+2} =H^{n+2} (\mathbb{B} S^1)\) is defined by the multiplication by Chern-Euler class \(e\in H^2 (\mathbb{B} S^1)\). We mention that the bicomplex \(QCC\) and its basic properties are given in Section 2. All the results of this paper are obtained by applying methods of cyclic homology theory.
