Let \(X\) be a Banach space and \(X(c_0)\) denote the space of weakly unconditional Cauchy series in \(X\) equipped with the complete norm \(\|(x_i)\|=\sup\{\sum_{i=1}^\infty a_i x_i :(a_i)\in B_{c_0}\}.\) Let \((x_i^n)_n\) be a sequence in \(X(c_0)\) and let \(S\) be a subspace of \(\ell_\infty\) containing \(c_0\). The authors first investigate when the existence of the \(w^\ast\)-limit of \(\sum_{i=1}^\infty a_i x_i^n\) in \(X^{\ast\ast}\) for every \((a_i)\in S\) implies the existence of a sequence \((y_i)\in X(c_0)\) such that \(\lim_n (x_i^n)=(y_i)\). The authors show that if \(S\) has a certain Grothendieck property, then the limit sequence exists. They also ask for a characterization of the spaces \(S\) such that the limit sequence exists. Secondly, they reduce the assumptions by demanding that the \(w^\ast\)-limit of \(\sum_{i\in A} a_i x_i^n\) exists for every set \(A\) in some family \({\mathcal F}\subset\mathcal P (\mathbb N)\). It is shown that if \({\mathcal F}\) has the Vitali-Hahn-Saks property or satisfies a property called \(S_1\), the limit sequence in \(X(c_0)\) exists. Thirdly and lastly, they investigate when it can be deduced that a series is weakly unconditionally Cauchy or weakly unconditionally convergent from the assumption that \(\sum_{i\in A} a_i x_i\) is weakly convergent for all \(A\in{\mathcal F}\). Classical properties on \({\mathcal F}\) (the Nikodym-property, the Vitali-Hahn-Saks-property and the Grothendieck property) play an important role. Their result contains the Orlicz-Pettis theorem as a particular case.
