Let \(\Omega\) be a domain in \(\mathbb C^n\). A locally biholomorphic mapping \(f:\Omega\to\mathbb C^n\) with \(0\in f(\Omega)\) is called an \(\varepsilon\)-starlike mapping on \(\Omega\) if there exists a positive number \(\varepsilon\), \(0 \leq\varepsilon\leq 1\), such that \(f(\Omega)\) is starlike with respect to every point in \(\varepsilon f(\Omega)\). Let \(f(z_1)\) be a normalized biholomorphic \(\varepsilon\)-starlike function on the unit disk \(\mathbb D = \{z_1\in\mathbb C: | z_1| <1\}\), \(0 <\varepsilon < 1\). The authors prove that the Roper-Suffridge extension operator \[ \Phi_{n,1/p}\left(f\right)(z)=F_{1/p}(z) =\left(f(z_1),t(f'(z_1)\right)^{1/p}z_0),\quad p\geq 1,\tag{1} \] is a normalized \(\varepsilon\)-starlike mapping on the domain \[ \Omega_{n,p}=\{z\in\mathbb C^n:| z_1| ^2+\| z_0\|_p^p<1\},\tag{2} \] where \(z_0 =(z_2,\dots,z_n)\in\mathbb C^{n-1}\), \(z=(z_1,z_0)\in\Omega_{n,p}\), and the branch of the power function in (1) is chosen such that \((f'(z_1))^{1/p}\left|_{z_1=0} =1\right.\). This result includes many known results and solves an open problem of Graham and Kohr. Similar to the family of \(\varepsilon\)-starlike mappings, the authors define the family of \(E\)-starlike mappings. Let \(\Omega\in\mathbb C^n\) be a starlike domain (with respect to the origin). A locally biholomorphic mapping \(f:\Omega\to\mathbb C^n\) with \(f(0) =0\) is called a \(E\)-starlike mapping if there exists a positive number \(E\), \(0\leq E\leq1\), such that \(f(\Omega)\) is starlike with respect to every point in \(f(E\Omega)\). Let \(f(z_1)\) be a normalized biholomorphic \(E\)-starlike function on \(\mathbb D\). Then (1) is a normalized \(E\)-starlike mapping on (2). As an application of these results the radius of convexity and the radius of starlikeness of a subfamily of the normalized mapping on \(\Omega_{n,p}\) are found.
