The author establishes several interval oscillation criteria for the forced second order quasilinear differential equation \[ \bigl(r(t)| y'(t)| ^{\alpha-1}y'(t)\bigr)'+p(t)| y'(t)| ^{\alpha-1}y'(t) +q(t)| y(t)| ^{\beta-1}y(t)=e(t), \] with \(r\in C^1([t_0,\infty);(0,\infty))\), \(p,q,e\in C([t_0,\infty);\mathbb{R})\) and \(\beta>\alpha>0\). The results, based on the oscillation properties of the forcing term, improve earlier oscillation criteria by \textit{J. Jaroš, T. Kusano, N. Yoshida} [Acta Math. Univ. Comen., New Ser. 69, No. 1, 107--113 (2000; Zbl 0959.34024)] and others. The main tool here is the transformation of a positive solution \(y\) of the equation into the function \(u\) defined by \[ u(t)=\frac{r(t)| y'(t)| ^{\alpha-1}y'(t)}{| y(t)| ^{\alpha-1}y(t)}. \] The criteria contain sufficient conditions on the sequence of subintervals of \([t_0,\infty)\) rather than on the whole half-line \([t_0,\infty)\).
