The paper is devoted to the numerical solution of the Dirichlet problem for the Laplace and the Helmholtz equation in the complement of a smooth open curve in the plane. Let \(\Gamma\) be an open curve in \(\mathbb{R}^2\) given by a smooth regular parametrization \(x:[-1,1] \to \Gamma.\) For \(\lambda \in \mathbb{C}\) with \(Im \lambda \geq 0\), the author looks for a solution of the equation \[ \Delta u +\lambda^2 u=0 \,\;\;\;\text{in} \, R^2 \backslash \Gamma, \tag{1} \] \[ u|_{\Gamma}=g. \tag{2} \] The task (1)-(2) is transformed to the integral equation \[ \int\limits^1_{-1} \varphi_{\lambda} (x(s)-x(t)) \varphi(t)dt= g(x(s)), \quad -1 \leq s \leq 1, \tag{3} \] where \(\varphi(t)\) is an unknown function, \(\varphi_{\lambda}(t)\) is the fundamental solution of the task (1)--(2). For a solution of the equation (3) some numerical methods are offered, including a superconvergence method. Estimates of exactness of the methods are given.
