Let \(X\), \(S\) be smooth irreducible varieties with \(\dim S = d\), \(\dim X = d+r\). Let \(f:X \to S\) be a projective flat morphism with \(M\) a relative very ample divisor such that \(X\) is embedded in \(\pi:{\mathbb P}_{S}(E) \to S,\) where \(E=f_{*}M.\) The morphism \(f\) is said to be a wild hypersurface bundle of degree \(p\) if every geometric fibre \(f^{-1}(s)\) is defined in \({\mathbb P}_{S}(E_{s})\) by \(x^p=0\) for some non zero \(x\in E_{s}\). If \(p=2\) and \(r=1\) then \(f\) is said a wild conic bundle. In the paper under review the authors classify smooth Fano threefolds in characteristic \(2\) with wild conic bundle structures. The classification is done without using general classification methods of Fano threefolds [\textit{S. Mori} and \textit{S. Mukai}, Manuscr. Math. 36, 147--162; erratum ibid. 110, 407 (1981; Zbl 0478.14033); in: Algebraic varieties and analytic varieties. Adv. Stud. Pure Math. 1, 101--129 (1983; Zbl 0537.14026); in: Algebraic and topological theories (Kinosaki, 1984), 496--545 (1986; Zbl 0800.14021)]. They first characterize the base \(S\) and then describe \(X\) and it turns out that are only two types of such threefolds. The authors obtain also general results on wild hypersurface bundles of degree \(p\).
