Let \(f\) be a transcendental entire function of finite order \(\lambda\) on \(\mathbb{C}^n\) and \(\delta(a, f)\) the deficiency of the value \(a\in\mathbb{P}^1\) of \(f\). The authors prove that \(\sum_{a\in\mathbb{C}}\delta(a,f)\leq 1- k(\lambda)\), where \(k(\lambda)\) is a nonnegative constant depending only on \(\lambda\); and that if \(\sum_{a\in\mathbb{C}}\delta(a, f)= 1\), then \(\lambda\) is a positive integer and equal to the lower order of \(f\).
