Indem der Verfasser den hyperbolischen Sinus und Cosinus einer Zahl \(\varTheta\) als die Ordinate und Abscisse eines Punktes \(P\) der gleichseitigen Hyperbel mit der halben Hauptaxe \(OA=1\) definirt, während der Sector \(POA\) gleich \(\frac 12\theta\) ist, leitet er auf möglichst elementare Weise aus der Figur die Additionstheoreme für \(\text{sinh}(\alpha+\beta)\) und \(\text{cosh}(\alpha+\beta)\) her.
