Finite elastic eversion of a thick-walled incompressible spherical cap (Q1573503)

The author obtains an exact solution for the finite eversion of a thick-walled spherical cap consisting of a special nonlinear elastic incompressible material, the so-called modified Varga material. This solution describes a portion of a thick spherical shell being turned inside out. It is shown that no further solution of this type exists. Additionally, more general response functions are taken into account. The author also discusses a relation to the snap-buckling problem.
