The barotropic fluid cosmologies admitting an isotropic singularity have been investigated. From the General Vorticity Result (GVR) of S. M. Scott (1999) it is known that these cosmologies must be irrotational. In this work, using two different methods, it has been proved that, for shear-free perfect fluids, the fluid flow must be geodesic. This implies that the only shear-free, barotropic, perfect fluid cosmologies which admit an isotropic singularity are the FRW models.
